Twenty-four years ago, in the Inanda Club Ballroom, the first Juliet Cullinan Wine Festival was launched. Rustenburg, Hamilton Russell, Villiera and Bouchard Finlayson were amongst the first exhibitors and they are all still with us today.
Juliet Cullinan recognised the skills of winemakers, introducing the face behind the bottle and created a marketing platform for the talented.
We were a first to offer a wine show to exhibit the leading Cape winemakers for the cream of Johannesburg's wine society.
We have always aimed at showcasing small, elite boutique wineries. We provide the ideal forum for interaction between keen and knowledgeable wine lovers and gifted cellar masters.
Standard Bank realised the potential of this wine event and have sponsored it for the last 14 years. Together we have taken a good concept and transformed it into an eagerly awaited annual occasion.
The joy of wine tasting is the joy of discovery … the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival is about providing a broad range of "excellence" and an unforgettable journey through a range of handpicked wineries.
Major brands may dominate the marketplace but it is the interaction with the individual winemakers that has given the festival its credibility and integrity. These cellar masters have performed a vital role and over the years we have seen reserved wine farmers transform into actors, even celebrities, sharing their interest, knowledge and enthusiasm with wine buyers.
At the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival you will find key industry players who highlight the potential of each vintage and boutique wineries, who advertise with the "power of the palate rather than the boost of the buck."
The Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival is the longest running and most prestigious show. It's a great opportunity to taste premium wines and buy them at discounted show prices through the Makro Sip & Shop.
We look forward to seeing you in June.
